We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the esteemed guest Dr. Min Thein Maw from the Veterinary Public Health Division of Myanmar who visited our laboratory from 20th May 2024 to 31st May 2024 for valuable knowledge exchange and sharing of insights on animal and zoonotic infectious disease surveillance and control.

Dr. Maw is the director of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department under the Veterinary Public Health Division in Myanmar. Dr. Maw has experience in livestock and public health related works in a nationwide scale, including livestock disease and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) gene surveillance, to zoonotic and communicable diseases surveillance.

During the scientific visit, Dr. Maw spent several days at our facilities in HKUMed, C2i and D²4H, engaging in talks and hands-on demonstrations of bioinformatics analyses from our team. We also have plenty of discussion to exchange knowledge and experience in emerging techniques and best practices in disease surveillance especially genomics that will enable high quality and impact of results.

We were honoured to host Dr. Maw, and are tremendously appreciative of the time he dedicated to engaging with our team. We look forward to our future collaboration and further knowledge exchange activities.
